Jangbu Sherpa
Managing Director

We are people of the Himalayas. We were born and brought up in Khumbu, which lies on the southern slopes of the great mountain range. We grew up to venerate these icy pinnacles, proud that one of the first two humans to set foot on the summit of Chomolungma, known to the world as Sagarmatha / Mt. Everest, was a Sherpa. Since that unforgettable day when Sherpa Tenzing Norgay stood on top of the world with Sir Edmund Hillary, we have been known as mountain climbers. And we are very good at it too.

We have made a name for ourselves not only as born mountaineers but also for our companionship, friendliness, and hospitality that come to us naturally. The mountains are our pride and they are holy to us. There are sacred treasures concealed in their rock and ice, gifts of our greatest saint, the Guru Rinpoche. Though it is not given to all to discover them, these icy heights of gold and silver, these lakes of jade and turquoise, these valleys of emerald, and these streams of sapphire are equally precious in their beauty. We want to share this splendor with you. Let us show you around our enchanting land-our monasteries humming with prayer, our religious masked dance, our idyllic and uncomplicated way of life, and our picturesque villages whore prayer flags are always flying over our homes. We will lead you through forests lighted up by the color of rhododendrons and through peaceful meadows ablaze with alpine flowers. We will take you along untrodden trails and over hidden mountain passes which only we know well. And who knows, at some enchanted moment on our journey, we might even surprise the legendary snowman.

Steven Tickle

Foreign Partner

Throughout life, you may happen upon those who literally cannot sit still. Steve is one of those unique individuals who consider adventure travel, exploring new destinations and sharing a passion with others as basic necessities for life. Steve has climbed and hiked all around the globe, including Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, Switzerland, Nepal, Africa, Central America, and the United States. In his backyard of Washington, he’s climbed all of the northwest volcanoes, including more than 15 trips up Mount Rainier. He’s a skilled guide, leader, and instructor, teaching countless courses on mountaineering, rock, and ice climbing, as well as becoming the local go-to resource for mountaineering gear and equipment. With his colorful palette of worldwide experiences, one place has become “home” to Steve – Nepal. Having traveled, trekked, and climbed through Nepal for the past 12 years, his love and respect for this remote and beautiful region have grown exponentially. The bonds and friendships built over the years with his family of Sherpas and villagers speak to the growing respect he has earned with each trip. Steve is driven to share with others the views and breath-taking vistas of Nepal’s Khumbu region, many situated 18,000’+ above sea level, whenever he can. Whether it is a comfortably paced trek to Everest Base Camp or a challenging, technical climb up Ama Dablam, you can trust Steve will make the trip worth every stride and high-altitude breath taken. This rare opportunity is truly within reach when following in his careful and experienced footsteps.

When described by others, you’ll learn that Steve is a compassionate man, an amazing listener, a fantastic storyteller, and a funny guy with an incredible sense of humor. He is also known to play a mean game of Uno. He truly enjoys international travel and spending time getting to know people from all over the world. As a full-time professional firefighter and EMT, Steve knows how to handle most emergency situations, remaining even-keeled under pressure. When Steve isn’t guiding clients, co-workers or friends, or working his job as a firefighter, you can find him hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, or climbing any one of the many mountains near his home in Seattle, riding his Harley Davidson whenever the roads are dry, or simply spending quality time with those who mean the most to him.
