Overview

Gosainkunda and Helambu Trek is one of the popular trek in Langtang region. It is the combination of three important places of Langtang region i.e. Langtang valley, Gosainkunda and Helambu valley. This trek offers the trekkers a Himalayan wildlife and Tamang cultural experience. This region is culturally rich which is mostly inhabitated  by Tamang and Sherpa communities and their tradition, rituals, life style, culture really attract spiritually anyone’s mind .The Langtang region is protected as Langtang National Park that consists of variety of high peaks, monasteries, sacred lake called Gosainkunda which is very popular pilgrimage sight of Nepal; it is most specifically popular to Hindu pilgrimages.

In this region the most popular sacred lake – Gosainkunda is lies which are very important to both Hindus and Buddhists pilgrimage. Beside this, there aremany monasteries as well. The natural beauty and charm and its cultural aspects are major part of this trek. In this trekking trail, the trekkers can take the awesome and breathtaking views of snowy great Himalaya’s peaks like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa etc. Trishuli River, Bhote Koshi River and other small rivers catch anyone’s eyes and mind. Apart from these, beautiful forests of pines, bamboo, rhododendron and others trees and plants, landscape, glaciers, water falls, and wild animals are the main attraction of this trek. In overall it is very interesting and adventurous trek to do which can able to give the knowledge and experiences of Himalaya and Himalayan culture.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our representative and driver meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designed hotel. The representative will help you check into your hotel. At the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities.

Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The Kathmandu valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence. In the morning after having breakfast, you will be guided to visit famous and biggest Hindus Pashupatinath temple, Buddha stupa, Swoyambhunath and in the afternoon having lunch you will visit Kathmandu durbar square and Patan durbar square.

Day 03: Drive to Syabru Besi

Leaving Kathmandu after having breakfast, you will be driven to Syabru Besi which is 135 km far from Kathmandu and it takes 9 hours drive. You will follow the Pasang Lamu Highway to reach Syabru Besi. Moving to your destination, you will pass different location like Kakani (it is best for panoramic view of great Himalaya of Nepal, many hills and Kathmandu city), Trishuli bazaar, Dhunche. You can enjoy with the rural communities and their tradion and great views of Annapurna, Langtang, Gaurishankar, Ganesh, Manaslu etc.

Day 02: Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel

Today your trek will be started, with great excitement after having breakfast you will go north side to suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi river then, you pass the Daman Landslide Lodge, Dangdung Khola, Langtang Khola then you will climb Rimche and you will reach Changtang which is popularly known as Lama hotel. On the route you may have chance to see terraced fields and dense forest with a variety of plant species like oaks, maple, alder and bamboo open up. Beside this, you can see yellow-throated martin, wild boar, langur monkey, and red panda and Himalayan black bear en route

Day 03: Trek to Langtang village

This day you continue the ascent above the Langtang Khola. This trail offers you the most exotic sights of Langtang Lirung – the highest peak of the Langtang region, several lodges, yak pastures and meadows, cultivated land yielding barley, turnips, wheat, buckwheat, potatoes etc and scattered Tamang village which is the headquarter of Langtang National Park.

Day 04: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa

Today your destination is Kyagjin Gompa which is one of the popular gompa in this region. So you follow the path of the trek in the morning with getting fun the traditional life style and culture of Tamang and Sherpa. Beside this, you can enjoy from the surrounding like different monasteries, government operated cheese factory, scenic forests, hills, Himalayas and rivers,spectacular mountain ridges and undulating glaciers.

Day 05: Trek to Lama Hotel

From Kyangjin, you take the route back to Lama Hotel. You will follow the Langtang Khola, Langtang village, Ghora tabela to Lama hotel and you will be accommodated at this place.

Day 06: Trek to Thulo Syabru Gaon

This day you will trek from Dhunche to Syabru Gaon which takes about five and half hours. The trek today is very leisurely and takes you through forests and terraced hill slopes. Syabru is a beautiful village stretched out along the ridgeline. From here you can enjoy spectacular views of Langtang Lirung- the highest mountain of this region, Tibetan Himal ranges and so on.
 

Day 07: Trek to Sing Gompa

This trail to Sing Gompa climbs through forests of oak, firs and rhododendrons. You take the uphill trail at each junction and cross another forested ridge. The trail continues across the head of a second valley, Sing Gompa which is the main attraction at Chandan Bari, which also has several hotels and a small cheese factory.
 

Day 08: Trek to Gosainkunda

From Sing Gompa you climb a ridge to gain the main Gosainkunda trail. As the trail ascends, there are outstanding views across Langtang valley to Langtang Lirung and dramatic views of Himalchuli, Ganesh Himal and Manaslu on the west.  Eventually the trail descends from the ridge to the first of three lakes, Saraswati Kund, Bhairab Kund and Gosainkunda. Gosainkunda (Holy Shiva’s lake) lake is particularly sacred place of pilgrimage in the summer (Janai Purnima which is the one of the popular festival of Hindus). The Gosainkunda is a high altitude lake. According to the Hindu legend Lord Shiva himself created this high altitude lake.
 

Day 09: Explore around Gosainkunda

This day you spend whole day for exploration of the lake. This lake one of the popular lake in Nepal which is located at an altitude of 4380m from the sea level and covered 4 sq miles. It is said that Lord Shiva (the god of Hindus) himself created the high altitude lake. In this lake particularly in summer season, carnival is happened. Many Hindus and Buddhists participate in this festival. Around the Gosainkunda Lake there are other lake as well, they are Bhairab Kund and Saraswati Kund.

Day 10: Trek to Ghopte/Tharepati

Another important day of Langtang Gosainkunda pass to Helambu trek with excellent mountain views also the passing pilgrimage holy lake today we enter the Helambu region with rich of Sherpa culture and traditions. Along the way we pass several lakes. The view from Lauribina pass is stunning. We walk up for 2 and half hours to get top than we step down to Phedi for lunch. Then again keep down walk for while and a short up climb to Thadepati.
 

Day 11: Trek to Kutumsang

From Tharepati there are two trail one leads to Melamchi Bazaar but we follow trail to Kutumsang.  We again walk through the jungle to Kutumsang. Normally trek goes down to Mangengoth for lunch. Again steep down to Kutumsang.
 

Day 12: Trek to Chisapani

Leaving Kutumsang,  today you will follow the path to go to Chisapani passing through forests, beautiful hills, Tamang village and getting its culture and tradition. Finally you will reach Chisapani about 3 hours of walking.

Day 13: Trek to Sundarijal and drive to Kathamndu

Today you will trek up to Sundarijal and then you will be driven to Kathmandu which takes about 1 hour. While crossing the Chisapani to go to Sundarijal you will pass Shivapuri National Park where you can variety of flora fauna with the view of Kathmandu valley, terraced farmland etc.

Day 14: Depart Kathmandu

After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take to the airport for your flight home.Or if you want to stay longer for short tours i.e. National parks, rafting, and mountain biking, hiking, etc. do not forget to inform us.
