Overview

The Jiri Everest base camp trek is one of the longest classical routesto reach Everest Base Camp. It was used before the Lukla airport was even built however it is also used. This trail is the original and popular for its natural and socio-cultural diversities. It is an alternate trek to get Everest base Camp to direct flight to Lukla. This trek is lengthy and costly in nature and recommended to them who have experience of high altitude and lengthy treks. This trail offers wonderful opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Dolakha and Solukhumbhu districts. On the way trekkers can catch the pictures of stunning views of the Himalayas, lush green jungle, and the fertile valleys of the area. During this classic trek, one can enjoy the panoramic vistas of Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Amadablam, Mt.Pumori, & Mt. Thamserku etc. as you walk through the paths of these trails you come across the different cultures found in Sherpa society, the original inhabitants of this area.

Apart from above, this lengthy trial offers variety of lush forests and its wild animals and birds, rivers, lakes, glaciers, suspension bridge, hills, waterfalls, Sherpa communities where trekkers can study the traditions, culture and religion of the communities. The trail combines Jiri- (popularly said the Switzerland of Nepal), Namche and other village as well.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our representative and driver meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designed hotel. The representative will help you check into your hotel. At the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The Kathmandu valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence. In the morning after having breakfast, you will be guided to visit famous and biggest Hindus Pashupatinath temple, Buddha stupa, Swoyambhunath and in the afternoon having lunch you will visit Kathmandu durbar square and Patan durbar square.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Jiri

Today you will start your long trip to Everest Base Camp to Jiri. You will be driven to Jiri which is 188kms far from Kathmandu and it takes about 8 – 9 hours. On way you have a wonderful opportunity to see lots of beautiful villages, mountains, rivers, forests, waterfalls, hills to Jiri. andafter reaching Jiri you can explore the Jiri and its surrounding.

Day 04: Trek from Jiri to Bhandara

After having breakfast you startyour trek up to Bhandara. This day you walk through lots of beautiful villages and nice green scenery around. Friendly people and terrace field are nice attraction for today. After passing many ups and down you will arrive small settlement at Bhandara for the overnight.

Day 05: Trek Bhandara to Sete

From Bhandara you will start to follow the path after having breakfast to Sete. At the beginning youwill descend to Likhu Khola, after crossing the bridge, you will have windy path that leads you to a small village called Kinja. On the way you have excellent views numerous farm houses, terrace fields and it`s   surrounding. Finally, after long day walk youarrive at Sete for overnight.

Day 06: Trek from Sete to Junbesi

Today your trek begins with a long but gradual climb to the Lamjura pass at 3530meters. There you are rewarded with frost and often snow along the trail in winter or with flowering rhododendrons in the spring. The pass is the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar. From the top you descend to Tragdobuk at 2860meters, then to the pretty Sherpa village of Junbesi at 2675meters.

Day 07: Trek from Junbesi to Nunthala

Leaving Junbesi, you will trek up to Nunthala. For this you will climb to a ridge at 3080meters, from where Everest slowly begins to appear in front of your eye. From Junbesi the trail leads to the hospital and airstrip at Phaplu and the district headquarters and bazaar at Salleri. Leaving Salung, you make your way descending to the Ringmo Khola at 2650meters. Finally you will reach Nunthala and you will be accommodated at the local tea houses.

Day 08: Trek from Nunthala to Bupsadanda

From Nunthala, the trail leads descent towards Dudh Koshi River followed by Jubling and several villages. From Jubling, you climb up to village around the ridge. 

Day 09: Trek from Bupsadanda to Puiyan

This day from Bupsadanda you trek up to Puiyan passing the rivers, forest, villages you will reach Puiyan where you can get the views of great Himalayas and hills.

Day 10: Puiyan to Phakding

This day after having breakfast, you will startyour trek. The trail leads you on the long winding trail with few small ups and downs to Surke, Chaurikharka, a large scattered village with monastery and high school. This village is very fertile for barley, wheat and green vegetable. Your trail joins from Lukla towards Phakding, making the path quite busy with more trekkers, porters and pack animals and few hours of good scenic walk brings you at Phakding.

Day 11: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Leaving Phakding, you will cross and re-cross the river on high suspension bridges, Monjo- the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park which was set-up in order to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment. You follow the path to get Namche which is the major trading village in Khumbu region. If the weather is clear, you get the first glimpse of Mt Everest.

Day 12: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization

Today is rest day. You will spend your entire day in Namche by taking complete rest as acclimatization to gain altitude, planning for forthcoming trips and getting habituated to your trekking destinations. To acclimatize, you visit Khunde Hospital which was  set up by Sir Edmund Hillary, Everest view Hotel for sunset views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam.

Day 13: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Thyangboche

This day from Namche, the trail follows the path to the side of the valley, high above the Dudh Koshi.  You will get first really good views of the great peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. As you descend, you will pass several Sherpa villages and tea shops. You hike to reach Thyangboche by following the zigzag path which offers awesome sights of rhododendron bushes with beautiful birds and superb mountain scenery. Finally, you get Thyangboche which is famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in the Khumbu.

Day 14: Trek from Thyangboche to Dingboche

After breakfast, you start your trek down to Diboche village through the rhododendron forest and crossing the bridge, then you will arrive at  one of the beautiful village in Pangboche.The trail continue to Dingboche as Mt. Amadablam get closer and closer. After 5 hours pleasant walk, finally we arrive in Dingboche which is also the gateway to Chukung Village and Island peak.

Day 15: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization

Today is rest a day. You will spend your entire day in Namche by taking complete rest as acclimatization to gain altitude, planning for forthcoming trips and getting habituated to your trekking destinations. Besides that you can hike around the Dingboche.

Day 16: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche

Leaving Dingboche, you will trek up to Lobuche by following the path to Thukla and after that you will climb to memorable park of climbers and finally you will reach Lobuche which is you last destination for today.

Day 17: Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep

After having breakfast in the early morning you will continueyour trek to Gorakshep Village for about 3 hours in a windy and rocky path then you will continue your adventure towards Everest Base Camp and to the Khumbu Ice-fall. Besides this, you have wonderful view of Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse and other magnificent peaks.

Day 18: Trek from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar and trek to Pheriche

In the Early morning, you will start hike up to KalaPathar to catch the most wonderful sunrise views of the Mt.Everest. Besides that you have and excellent views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Pumori and Ama Dablam along with the entire mountain views of Khumbu Himalayan range.

Day 19: Trek from Pheriche to Thyangboche

From Thyangboche, the trail descends steeply and slightly towards Phunki Tenga by crossing the Dudh Koshi with viewing the great peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail ascends steeply to Sanasa where local Sherpa people sell their Tibetan goods. Stay overnight at lodge.

Day 20: Trek from Thyangboche to Namche Bazaar

From Thyangboche your trek continue to Namche by following the river, rhododendron forests and the Himalaya views of Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kantega and Thamserku.

Day 21: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla

This is your final day’s trek which follow the path to Dudh Koshi to reach Lukla. After reaching Lukla in the evening, you have a time to enjoy with Sherpa guides and porters by taking local drinks.

Day 22: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

After having breakfast you can check in the airport to fly back to Kathmandu. At the Kathmandu airport, your guide will transfer to the designed hotel. In the evening you have free time for refreshment and shopping etc.

Day 23: Depart Kathmandu

After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take to the airport for your flight home. Or if you want to stay longer for short tours i.e. National parks, rafting, and mountain biking, hiking, etc. do not forget to ask us.
